‘Jazz in my suitcase’

“We always enjoy packing suitcases for vacations while listening to music. Most of the time Jazz is our choice, especially when we are packing for the summer holidays. This way, we start travelling even before the journey has begun. Looking for inspiration for this summer collection we thought it would be very interesting this time to be inspired by sounds and not just images. Thus, the creative process was flooded with jazz music. So, this year we will put “Jazz in our suitcase” and our collection will have common features with jazz music. The following characteristics of jazz were sources of inspiration in the preparation of the collection

. Swing and blue notes:
Pink & light blue notes will be our choice for this summer combined with white and shades of black & gray, colors that we always love.

.  Complex chords & Unexpected sounds:
This year we decided to experiment with unusual combinations, such as combining fabric with leather. Therefore, we combined the silky touch of 100% modal (the plant-based silk) with a plantbased leather (leather made of grapes using the waste in wine production).

. Improvisation (jazz music differs from other genres due to the originality of its improvisation):
Designing process & pattern making process using moulage technique. In moulage, the garment is draped and shaped directly onto a mannequin or the body of a model. This way the designer is free to create more artistic forms, shapes and volumes. With moulage we are free to improvise.

. Versatility (What is correct & what is wrong in music? Jazz has no rules. Jazz offers musicians the freedom to do things in music that were not previously accepted as “correct”)
Versatility allows you to adapt to many different situations. Designing versatile clothes means change, variety of choices, invention, development but also sustainability as well (since by having the choice to wear our clothes in different ways we consume less).

This summer let’s travel together with jazz tunes. Let’s pack music in our suitcases. Jazz itself is the trip!
